Photos of Phriday!!

Below is a photo of the 'Automatic Hoover' that had been on our wedding gift list, unfortunately the guys at my work couldn't afford it, so they made their own... Complete with clockwork snail to power it all!!

Last Day of Work ... and Surprises All Round!!

Well, what a great last night and this morning!! Some totally unexpected gifts and celebrations! Its really weird I didn't think that people would be that interested, I don't mean that in a negative way, obviously I don't think that they would just be kind of
"oh, a wedding, blarghhh"
I thought there would be congratulations and questions from those not in the family and a few wishes of good luck but I have been blown away by the niceness of people.

Take last night, the last day of poker for us for the next 3/4 weeks (except Sunday, but we have established that that doesn't count) Two of the people we know from the poker, Barrie and Isobel gave us a card and a gift which was totally unexpected! Thanks very much guys! Then totally out of the blue was a gift and card from the lady whos pub we host the poker in!! A beautiful gift it was too (even if someone else did unwrap it!) I was quite overcome, I am not used to people making such a fuss!! :) :) :)

Then to just add to my "wow!" I get into work today, late (never trust alarm clocks!!) to find that everyone has signed a card, and decorated my desk with balloons and banners and even put together a little guide to marriage for us! LOL We are also heading out for lunch to a Indian resturant!! I am again so happy, I am really not used to this and it is so nice!!!

Exactly 1 week to go! - You're sitting where?

So, its the final week count down and I have just had an email from mum which appears to imply that they aren't doing the seating plan today which is what they were supposed to be doing. The seating plan is one joy that I have not had the pleasure of being part of. As i don't even really know over HALF the people coming to the wedding (that includes my family too) it seems inpossible for me to make any placing reccommendations!! So, if the fights break out I can stand back and say
"Nowt to do with me!!"

Second last day of work also, then three weeks off!!!!! How cool is that? I've only been here about 4 months and already major time off! They've been great though, I told them at the interview that I was getting married and they were happy to accommodate. They've even helped me get extra days off to cover what I needed (so I didn't have to take unpaid leave) by extending my contract by two months (i'm currently on a temporary contract). Have to admit I have become a little distracted.....

Poker tonight, last one for about 4 weeks. Sounds like a few people are coming along, hope its not too late a night.!! I'm not counting Sunday as to be honest it just seems like a bit of a waste of time!! Particularly when you could be using the time doing something wedding related!

Long Time No Post

Well, what a long time since my last post! So much has occurred! Biggest new change was my getting a job!!!!! Hurray!! I am now under the somewhat universally undiscriptive title of IT Assistant! But it working for the council in the Housing & Social Work Department. I am incharge of helping to maintain the Social Work's database (the one that holds all the information about the current & past clients) as well as being a helpline for any of the social workers who are having problems with the system or need something corrected. I've been there 2 weeks and am really enjoying it, much more to it than I expected!

I have also started a Book Keeping home learning course, of which I have passed assessment 1!! WooHoo!

And as every post needs a photo here's one fo this post! Hey, it's Dave.

It's Over! - Hurray!

Well, it's been a long time since my last post! But I have left Whittards and to be honest I have zero, count 'em.. zero.. regrets! I haven't got another job yet and it being so close to christmas I think I will just wait until afterwards. The job I was chatting about didn't go ahead. Don't get me wrong, I am as brilliant as i think, it was me that turned them down! By the time I had been to the interview and had a follow up call, the week day only, plenty prospects job had turned into, not the same job, every second weekend, no prospects!! So goodbye strange job people.

In the personal life the less said the better, but I think it is coming together again, although many things are still going to take some time but hey ho! that's life.

I have been photoing away again and thought that I might share some of the latests on here. I am really getting into taking photos of animals, I am wondering whether to go to some kind of photography night class thing to try and get some more hints and tips to do better!

Okay, so i have got a lot so I'll just put a few up for now!

So this is the Boys. Rocco and Monty. Monty spent Saturday night 8pm through to about 3pm Monday afternoon up a tree. We had the SSPCA out, a local window cleaner with his ladder and all sorts, but no, Monty just goes higher and ends up about 45ft up, sitting in a crow's nest of all places! He eventually came down of his own accord, with a bit of coaxing from me. Well, 'came down' is pushing it, climbed part way down and dropped the last 15 (ish) feet!
And this here is Pyper. Looking anxiously for his treat, which he gets spoiled with once a day!! Yum! Yum!!

Handed In My Notice!

Well, this is a new one on me. Handing in my notice. I just did it, well, I just did it two days ago! What a liberating feeling! But at the same time it is most scary! I have been applying for jobs since and have had two calls already! Nothing to write home about, no multi-million pound deals but they have potential to be interesting if nothing else! Its hard to know what to choose, David and I have decided that after the wedding next year, and during his time at college we are going to be looking for a house up North so what to choose until then?

Looking at one, for example, 12.30 - 9pm but guaranteed Sundays off and only have to work one Saturday out of three, so no evenings together but pretty much every weekend!

Or do I go looking for another? I was hoping that the job offers would be more grouped but that's wishful thinking me-thinks!

Changing jobs is a tough old business but its also pretty exciting!!!

Sterling Mills Awards!

Weeeelll... If you are looking for the most bizzare and, quite frankly, biggest dud night of the year then you should have been at our centre's award ceremony. There was maybe 30 people there and we had a DJ that thought he was in Ibiza! No one would dance and the awards where all mainly won by the centre managers favourite shops or his own shops! We however, intended to make it a fun night! There may only have been four of us and we may have taken a huge quantity of staring from the boob tubed, knee high booted, hot pant wearing queens of sulk but we rocked! Hats off to Gemma, by the way, without whom our sides would not have split! Her dance moves know no bounds!

There may have been no more than 8 people on the dance floor at any time but we had fun! Unfortunately, Gail was unable to join us, she is still very unwell, so much so that she has been signed off sick for the next 4 weeks!
